Basic Needs Of Plants

The basic needs of plants are different from those of humans and animals. They are air, water, and sunlight. Plants can make their own food. They need sunlight to make food. Plants need air to stay alive. Without air, plants will die. Plants absorb water from the soil through their roots. They will wilt and die if they do not get any water.

Green plants can make food. In the presence of sunlight and chlorophyll, they use carbon dioxide and water to make their own food. Chlorophyll is the pigment that gives plants their green colour.
